Taylor CI Release Paths

Taylor Correctional Institution is an adult state prison operated by the Florida Department of Corrections. Its release events belong to the statewide FDC record, not to the Taylor County Sheriff's Office booking system. A sentenced person may leave Taylor CI at the expiration of a prison term with no later supervision. Another person may enter probation or community control under a split sentence. Parole, conditional release, or addiction-recovery supervision can also follow incarceration when the sentence and Florida law provide for it.

The destination changes the meaning of an exit. Release to the community ends physical prison custody, though legal supervision may continue. A move to the Taylor Correctional Institution Annex, an FDC reception center, or another Florida prison is a transfer. The person remains incarcerated. When the public record lists Taylor CI as a release facility, compare the release date and type with the same person's supervision record before treating the event as a full discharge.

Confirm a Taylor CI Release

The FDC Corrections Offender Network separates released people, current prisoners, supervised people, and absconders into distinct databases. This division matters. Supervised Population shows a current state supervision term after prison.

1. Open Inmate Release Information and search by the six-character DC number when known. A name search also accepts first and last name.
2. Match the photograph, birth information, DC number, offense, county, and case data. Do not rely on a shared name.
3. Read the displayed release date, type, and facility. Treat a scheduled date as a projection until FDC records the completed event.
4. Run the same DC number in Inmate Population. A current result means state custody continues, even if an older commitment shows an exit.
5. Check Supervised Population for probation, community control, conditional release, parole, or another term that follows incarceration.

Taylor CI Release Search Fields

The DC number is FDC's primary identifier. It has six characters, either all digits or one letter followed by five digits. Name searches use prefix matching, so a short entry can return several people. The release form also offers an alias option and a filter for records with photographs. These controls help locate a record, but identity should be established from several matching fields.

A released detail may show Release Date and an incarceration-history Date Out of Custody. It can also connect the Taylor CI event to the DC number, photograph, offense, sentence, county, and court case. Stated residence is suppressed from the public FDC result. If a current prison record instead shows Current Release Date, read it as a projection. Gain-time changes, sentence review, forfeiture, or a later court action may move it.

Note: FDC release data updates nightly, but a fast change can still reach the institution or public database at a different time.

Taylor CI Release Records Contact

The fact that Taylor CI was the last prison helps identify the release facility. FDC central records still control the legal date and status. These offices serve different record sets, so include the person's full name and DC number and state which displayed field needs clarification.

Use the court judgment to confirm the sentence imposed, jail or prison credit, and any split-sentence term. The court record explains legal authority, while FDC records show how the state calculated and carried out the release. Taylor CI Release or Transfer

Taylor County contains two corrections layers that share the Taylor name. Taylor County Jail handles sheriff bookings and some county sentences. Taylor CI and its Annex are FDC prisons for state sentences. A person can leave the county jail for Taylor CI and remain in custody. The county booking closes, yet state incarceration starts. That handoff should appear in the local release or transfer event, the sentencing judgment, and then the FDC population record.

The reverse question requires the same care. A missing Taylor CI location does not establish community release. FDC may have reassigned the person to the Annex or another institution. Search Inmate Population for the current facility and status. If the person is no longer in that database, check Inmate Release for a completed or scheduled release. Then check Supervised Population to learn whether a community term follows.

Taylor Prison Release History

The Taylor prison complex has several names in old and current records. An official FDC PREA audit dated 2019 states that the main unit opened in 1994 and the Annex opened in 2002. The report described the complex as covering 449 acres and identified the main unit as a Level 5 prison for sentenced adult men across community, minimum, medium, and close custody. Those dated facts describe the institution at the time of the audit, not its current population.

The same 2019 Taylor PREA report said the former Work Camp was no longer open. A current 2026 FDC statewide schedule still lists the main institution and Annex at the Hampton Springs Road complex. Therefore, an old release record may preserve “Work Camp” as the historical facility name, but that label should not be treated as a separate active prison in 2026.

This history is more than local color. It explains why a Taylor CI record can change facilities without marking a release. Movement between the main unit and Annex, or from either unit to another FDC site, stays within the state prison system. Only the FDC release event, read with the current population and supervision databases, can separate a completed prison exit from an internal move.

After a Taylor CI Release

A Taylor CI release can end incarceration while leaving a supervision term in place. Search FDC Supervised Population with the same DC number used in the release record. The result may identify supervision type, supervising office, location, and termination date. A termination date is the expected end of supervision, not the date prison custody ended.

FDC field officers supervise probation, community control, parole, conditional release, and other state terms. The Florida Commission on Offender Review makes parole and certain conditional-release decisions, while FDC manages field supervision. Sentence expiration can occur without later supervision. In that case, a completed release record and no current supervised result may fit the sentence. An empty supervision search alone does not prove full discharge, however. Match the release type, court judgment, and any FDC records response. A person subject to another authority may leave FDC custody and enter a different custody system rather than the community.
